Objective: Design, CAD Modeling and prototype build of US Spec headlamp and taillamp units for the Wheego Whip
Strategy: Final product had to meet FMVSS certifications as well as budgetary requirements for tooling and per piece cost. In order to meet these objectives Motive opted to incorporate a pre-approved emitter into a new bucket design thereby reducing certification and design costs. The new bucket design was limited due to regulation requirements, however we were able to achieve a design which accented the vehicles overall look and was simple to manufacture.
Results: Parts were completed, successfully test fit and production sourced within the client's timeframe and budget expectations.
"Your work allowed us to cut six months off of our development timeline, provide final production ready documents to our suppliers and expedite delivery of critical components for final assembly. My only wish is that we would have engaged MOTIVE sooner in the development process of our BEV, the first to be launched in the US as a highway speed 100% plug-in electric car." - Jeff Boyd, President, Wheego Electric Cars
